I must say there's been a temptation to part with it on more than a few occasions, but nothing is better in value in the market for me. Interior wise, the leather seats are very comfortable, one of the best in the business. The Sport button, once activated, brings immediately the Mr Hyde out of the clinical Doctor Jekyll, and everything turns manic. Paddle shift is not very practical for tight turns; a combination of paddle and gear level manual shifting is needed for optimal use of the manual mode. Diagnosis pointed to the failure of Direct Injection Coil Pack. This is a common problem here for higher end cars. The right rear speaker grill came off slightly, but was easily fitted back into position.
With the car tuned, this weakness on the coil pack was shown much earlier. Faults: Things that went wrong are a light malfunction with the xenon light system; should be costly like most parts on the car; I didn't look into it yet. I have previously owned Japanese cars known for their quality and reliability, and this is indeed true for my experience. It is better off leaving the gear in drive mode and let the car shift for the driver, which is smooth and therefore sufficient.
We love the heated front and rear seats. Ironically, hard nasty plastics assembled together with ugly bolts and nuts of lesser cars, would survive this weather better. I'm 6'2'' and am a good fit. It is extremely safe and entertaining, overtaking slower traffic with the Sport mode, and after deactivating the Sport mode, everything is back to Doctor Jekyll, cool and calm cruising mode. And buying it used with the value highly depreciated was one of the best decisions I have made. But it has to say it is not the latest design, and does not have some of the creature comforts of its competition. The fuel economy is great, I get about 33 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 74 mph. It is comfortable and reliable. Some of us here are hanging onto ours as long as we can, and I still have mine.
General Comments: We bought this 2007 Saab 9-5 Aero to replace a 1999 Saab 9-3 that had 160,000 miles on it. Yet, it is hard to understand the emotional attachment to the car. It's the best car I've ever owned. Also hit at the port side front by a colleague's Mitsubishi as he didn't see me when he moved out from his parking lot I think that's a camouflage effect of silver vehicles. General Comments: This is a hands on car, which I would put in the maintenance section of German and American cars. I had to help the authorized repair shop to find a donor car from the scrapyard to get all the bumper parts, and the shop thanked me for the support! It is not understood, yet not misunderstood.
The night panel is another; switches off most lights in the vehicle, other than the most essential, so the driver has a much better vision of the road in a pitch dark environment. Otherwise, the usual weakness for car interiors in the tropical environment; both front door handles had the upholstery layer starting to peel off, and the previous owner deliberately peeled them completely off, exposing the plastic underneath. It is unique and special, but not loud. The ride is great and the turbo engine has plenty of power. Drove to Thailand and back. The coil pack is a consumable, it will break sooner or later, even on a standard car.
Plastic on the side of the seats where the seat controls are breaks easily, so really don't put any weight on it at all!! I love everything about the car and find it challenging to keep out of turbo outstanding gas mileage otherwise. Many other brands owned, and own, but love my 9-5. The car is only missing the cooled seats, but we love all of the options in it.
