There are many pins on a timing chain and any significant wear causes the chain to stretch and then valves get bent, and oil consumption was also terrible. After having it all week they called today and have not started fixing it yet. Dealer replaced drive belt and water pump tensioner. Well, I hope this gave a bit more insight. The manual I used was from alldatadiy.
I'm hoping since the problems occurred under factory warranty that I have a Lemon law case even though I bought it used. Apperently out oil consumptions is file, however, they also told us out engine is junk and it will cost appox. Recently this trend has actually been in the opposite direction, with the timing chain taking over as the preferred option. It has been to the shop twice but each time more parts are needed that are not in stock. I would like some compensation for my replacement of this timing chain. Transmission didn't know which gear to go into while speeding up to highway speeds and car jerked back and forth until gas pedal was released.

I have come to the obvious conclusion that this engine should have been recalled to either fix the issues prior to them doing damage or the engines should have been replaced under factory warranty. . If this was meant to be replaced the vehcle would have been designed differently. Records showed they always serviced it at the dealership and kept up on the maintenance. My points to them being that it is under 100,000 miles and timing chains are intended to last much longer, oil changes were all done prior to oil life monitor dropping below 25%, and all other maintenance was done timely.
