For such a young actor he was amazing. Not willing to confront his family during the last days of the summer holidays, Phil escapes to hang out with his best friend, Kat, eating ice cream and playing dress-up. It was well acted by everyone. I found myself wishing for the main character to have a great life and for all his dreams to come true. You never forget your first love. Phil is instantly smitten with the handsome, mysterious Nicholas, and is over the moon when Nicholas returns his affections.
This and other gay orientated films always end in tragedy, making being gay, a tragedy! Although it has been many years since my first real love and hurt I still remember and think about him. Attempting to avoid a family feud just before the end of summer, Phil spends most of his time with his best friend, Kat. In addition to displaying worldwide cinema, the festival encourages Israeli original work, awarding Best Film in the competitive Israeli program and provides exposure and a public stage for local filmmakers. That was my issue with him, he was so upset about being in the dark, be it in his relationship with Nicholas to about what happened at his house, he never asked until it was finally going to implode, which is why I gave it four stars, while I enjoyed the movie, I found myself wanting to ring his neck by the end because all was in chaos and he could fix it or at least help, but he just had to ask. It is a film about first love, and that first hope and terror that comes with it. Hoping he would find mister right and live happily ever after.
It is a film about the end of youth, the end of innocence and the beginning of adulthood. Not willing to confront his family during the last days of the summer holidays, Phil escapes to hang out with his best friend, Kat, eating ice cream and playing dress-up. I don't know why so many gay themed movies have to include this type of addition to the story. The impressive program includes many exciting films while aspiring to enrich and empower tolerance and pluralism in Israeli society. Even so, I wanted the movie to go on forever just to see how Phil's life continued. Now that in itself begs the question just how close she and Nick really were? In the confrontation, Nick tells him that he needs both of them in his life, yet we have no indication that they even met Kat prior to Phils 'discovery! You could see the joy, the love and the hurt.
As the school year begins, a new student arrives — the handsome and mysterious Nicholas. Smitten, Phil watches his crush as he runs around the track after school, and is thrilled when Nicholas returns his feelings. Since Nicholas would not commit to telling Phil that he loved him, in my mind Nicholas was a 'player' and used relationship as a means of gratifying his super ego without restricting his future conquests! I do have to say though as we were getting to the finish, I found myself getting annoyed with the lead character Paul. The festival offers public screenings of films with no Israeli distribution, meetings with local as well as foreign filmmakers, panel discussions and special events. It made me want to learn German. Smitten, Phil watches his crush as he runs around the track after school, and is thrilled when Nicholas returns his feelings. Exceptional cast, in both physical and performance terms.
Does this gesture mean that when Phil returns from America, he and Nicholas along with Kat restart their relationship? As the school year begins, a new student arrives - the handsome and mysterious Nicholas. Saturday, June 10, 14:15 Cinematheque 1 Tickets are available at 03-6060800 ext. I especially loved the main character's eyes. Center of My World is a heart-warming tale of first love and the innocence, happiness, and pain that are part of it. Returning home from a summer holiday, Phil discovers that his mother and twin sister are not speaking to one another. His aunt Pascal gave him the best advice through the movie, of you want answers, ask the question! It is a film about finding ones place, planting ones feet, and discovering where home really is. I thought the actors were great and Louis Hoffman was outstanding.
This was a great film and I loved the way it dealt with the love and hurt. My only problem is the addition of the boyfriend having to turn out to be with a girl also. I'm off now to look up everything everyone involved in this has ever done so I can watch it all. I loved this film and will watch it again with my husband. The acting is absoutely top-notch, the writing is brilliant, honest, and respects the intelligence of the viewer, and the production is high-quality in every way. At the beginning of the school year a new student joins their class.
Singularly perceptive portrayal of emotional and sexual impulses of teenagers and their tempestuous consequences. It has it's sad moments but mostly it took me to a great place. The ending is kind of ambiguous in that Nicholas sends him that figurine Snow bowl he kept from Phil's encounter with him at the Supermarket, as a child. I can honestly say that I will watch this film again, and truly recommend it to anyone that likes to smile, to laugh, and to cry all in the span of a couple of hours. However, when first love's volatility comes to light, Phil realizes he must deal with the problems of his past in order to deal with the issues of his present. However, Phil must confront his troubled family history in order to find happiness. Acting was refreshingly natural and free of stereotypic theatrics so common to films of this genre.
There was no clear indication that they were seeing each other prior to Phil catching them having sex! This film is incredible, but be warned, you should prepare yourself for a very intense experience - this is not lighthearted but not tragic. It was a very enjoyable movie, and had a great storyline. It was sexy and sincere and true to life. I would think it more real to have the boyfriend go with another guy or the relationship just not work out for some other reason. The great time and the the hurt time.
